What is Visz.ai and why would I use it? A free, EU-hosted behavior-analytics tool: session recordings, heatmaps, funnels, and frustration signals to see how visitors actually use your site.
Is Visz really free? Yes. Limits exist for cost control, not as pricing or an upsell.
How is Visz different from Hotjar/Clarity? Consent before tracking by design, EU hosting, and no hidden price tag.
Where is my data stored? In the EU (Hetzner, Germany).
Installation
Do I need coding skills? No. Most platforms are paste-the-snippet; Shopify is a single toggle.
Do I need to install a plugin? On WordPress, no — the theme header is enough.
Does Visz work on my platform (Wix/Squarespace/Webflow/Shopify/Custom)? Yes. See Snippet Installation and Shopify.
How do I add the snippet to a React/Vue/Next SPA? It’s detected automatically — no extra config. See Custom.
Consent & GDPR
Do I need a cookie banner? See Consent Setup — Visz integrates with your existing banner/CMP.
Are recordings GDPR-compliant? Consent before tracking, client-side PII masking, EU hosting.
What happens before consent? Nothing — 0 events, recordings, or fingerprinting.
Which CMPs are supported? Cookiebot, Usercentrics, Borlabs, Google Consent Mode v2, and a custom selector.
Does Visz respect “Do Not Track”? Yes — DNT overrides everything.
Data & recordings
Why don’t I see data yet? Run the 4-point diagnosis.
Are passwords / credit cards recorded? No — they’re masked client-side.
How long are recordings stored? Per your retention settings; see Privacy Overview.
Does Visz sell my data? No.
Cost & limits
Is there a limit, and what happens when I hit it? Limits exist for cost control. When you hit them, collection pauses; there are no charges and no forced upgrade.
Are there hidden costs or an upgrade? No.
Troubleshooting
Is an adblocker blocking the snippet? Possibly — see the cause tree.
My snippet loads but no events arrive. Usually a page-level insert or missing consent — see Verify & Troubleshoot.
Does Visz work behind a CSP?
Yes — allow cdn.visz.ai and ingest.visz.ai.
Account & team
How do I invite teammates? Under Settings → Team in the dashboard .
How do I share a recording read-only? Via a share link from the recording view.
How do I delete my account / data? From account settings; deletion honors GDPR. See Privacy Overview.
